As a member of the Sliabh Beagh Cross Border Partnership Knockatallon has four identified way marked walks.  For the dedicated walker 'The Sliabh Beagh Way' is a 25 mile moor land walk across three counties. 

Monaghan's lakes and rivers are rich in Bream, Roach, Pike, Eel, Tench, Hybirds, Trout.  Information about lakes and rivers near Sliabh Beagh is given.  Fishing supplies and information are available from 'Venture Sports', Glaslough Street Monaghan.

Equestrian Centres in Monaghan include 'Greystones Equestrian Centre' on the castle Leslie Estate, Glaslough and the 'Mullaghamore Equestrian Centre', Scotstown 9km from the Sliabh Beagh Tourism Centre.

Monaghan comprises of many golf courses ranging from pitch and putt to 9 hole and 18 hole golf courses. Two golf courses situated near Sliabh Beagh are described - Rossmore and Clones Golf Course.

The Kingfisher Cycle Trail, at 370 kilometres (230 miles), is the first fully signposted, long distance cycle trail in Ireland. It runs through the counties of Fermanagh, Leitrim, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan. The route is quiet with gentle hills and ideal for cycling.
