Tydavnet Show: Preparation and planning for this year’s Parish Show is well underway and the Show Schedule is now available in the following outlets in the parish: Jack’s Shop, Tydavnet Eimear’s Shop and Sherry’s Shop, Killylough; Murray’s, Ballinode; Mc Mahon’s, Scotstown and Mc Aloon’s, Knockatallon.  The Schedule can also be found in Rocks, T. Martin Fuels, Town of Monaghan Co-op, Maurice Graham’s, Heitin’s Hardware in Monaghan, Frank Bishop’s in Castleblayney, Martin Quinn’s  in Ballybay, Gilbride’s and Holland’s in Emyvale, Treanor’s in Glaslough, Community Forum Office in Clones, Toal’s and Mother Bear’s in Smithboro and Tierney’s, Duffy’s, Scott’s and the  Post Office, Roslea. Please pick up your schedule early.  Exhibitors should note that entries will close promptly on Thursday 7th August at 10.00pm. As all Tydavnet Show personnel are voluntary and in order to process all entries the closing date must be final.

 

Open Garden: Benny Clerkin of Annaghcalkill is opening his beautiful garden to the public on Sunday, 10th August.  Refreshments will be served and all proceeds in aid of Muscular Dystrophy and Cancer Research.  The garden will be open all day and everyone is welcome.

 

Knockatallon Rambling Club: Last Sunday nine members of the club undertook the seven mile circular walk from Muckle Rocks to Mullafad and back again.  This weekend it is off to Armagh. For the Hills and Braes walk.  Meet at the Palace Demesne at 10.00 on Sunday morning.  For more details call Paddy on (0879670379)

Dr McGinnity: Dr McGinnity is on holiday and there will be no surgery in Knockatallon until after that date

Club for the Elderly: A night out to Ardaghy has been arranged for Thursday 7th August.  A bus will leave St Mary’s Hall at 7.30pm.  To book your seat telephone Christine at 89668.

Blessing of the Graves: The annual blessing of graves will take place in Tydavnet parish on Sunday 17th August.  The times are Urbleshanny at 3.00pm and Tydavnet at 4.30pm. Please inform people outside the parish who would want to know and when tidying your family plot please do what you can to tidy neighbouring plots if there is no one else to care for them.

 

St Vincent de Paul: There will be a church gate collection after all Masses this weekend, 26th and 27th July.   Please give generously.

Local Publication: There are still some copies of Mackie Rooney’s book, Monaghan Troubadour and Mountainy Man available in local shops. It is an excellent publication of special interest to those involved in traditional music or local history.
