Fishing in County Monaghan

Monaghan is dotted with fishing lakes and rivers. Species include Bream, Roach, Pike, Eel, Tench, Hybirds, Trout.

Lough More & Border Blackwater Anglers:  We offer Game Angling at 3 Venues Lough More;  This 90 acre lough holds a good stock of both wild and stocked trout.  There are perch, rudd and brea but these are not fished for.  Shore fishing is limited and there are 4 boats for hire.  This is a fly only fishery.

Lough Bradan;  This 15 acre lough is in a beautiful setting in the Sliabh Beagh Mountains.  It is stocked annually with 2 year old trout and all legal methods are allowed.  There is a short walk from the car park to the lough.  Access for bank fishing is good.

Border Blackwater;  Very good game and coarse angling. Local knowledge is essential

 Monaghan Blackwater: Game angling; Rises below Sliabh Beagh on the Co. Tyrone border and flows south east through the town, then north east to the Ulster Blackwater near Caledon (Co. Tyrone); Stocks of Brown Trout and Salmon are on the increase..

Lough Antrawer, Aportan and Meenish: Game angling; Accessed on foot; All hold Good stock of Trout; Situated 8kms North-West of Scotstown.

Peters Lake: Coarse angling; Excellent Access; Species include Roach, Bream, Hybrids, Tench and Perch; Situated in Monaghan Town centre.
Rossmore Park: Coarse angling; Comprising of three lakes; Species include Rudd, Pike, Tench, Perch and Carp; Restricted angling but excellent parking; Situated 3km South of Monaghan Town.  
Drumreaske Lake: Coarse angling; Species include Roach, Bream, Hybrids and Tench; Situated on Scotstown Rd. 3km North-West of Monaghan Town.  
Quig Lough: Coarse angling; Species include Tench, Rudd, Roach, Bream, Hybrids, Perch and Pike; Situated in Ballinode.
Astrish Lake: Coarse angling; Species include Tench, Rudd, Perch and Pike; Situated 5km North of Emyvale, on the road to Aughnacloy (Co. Tyrone).  
Killyboley Lake: Coarse angling; Species include Tench, Rudd, Perch and Pike; Good Access; Situated 2km South of Glaslough.  
Emy Lough: Game angling; Good stock of wild trout and is regularly stocked with Brown Trout; Situated near Emyvale.
